The Boston University Rocket Propulsion Group is one of many youth teams taking part in the Mavericks Civilian Space Foundation, a non-profit that use rocketry to encourage interest in STEM. It might, however, be the most ambitious! The group’s main project is the Starscraper, a novel hybrid rocket that flies using active stabilisation controls. It is designed to bring a 45kg-payload on a suborbital journey up to an altitude of 140km. The inaugural flight is at present scheduled for summer 2016.
